Best Point wins 2021 Savings and Loans Company of the Year
Best Point Savings and Loans Limited has won the 2021 Savings and Loans Company of the Year award at the recently held Corporate Ghana Awards.
In addition, the company’s mobile banking product known as Best Mobile Banking was adjudged 2021 Product of the Year in the savings and loans category.
The award is a recognition of their outstanding contribution to the sector, and also that their impact and influence have been effective and meaningful in the year 2021.
In a statement, the Managing Director of Best Point Savings and Loans Limited, Dr. Fred Safo-Kantanka, expressed gratitude and attributed the success to team-work.
“Despite the impact of COVID-19, the company worked so hard in 2021 and was able to exceed its profit targets as of November with the support of management, staff and the board,” he said
“We are eternally grateful to our customers for making it possible for us to win these awards. We appreciate their loyalty and we will still continue to make their dreams our business,” he added.
Commitment to MSMEs
Dr. Safo-Kantanka noted that the company prides itself in offering financial support to Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), as it believes this sector is the Ghanaian economy’s backbone.
“We understand their business, and we are always ready to offer them the needed support they require to enable them to grow. We have attractive credit facilities and savings products which suit the business needs of MSMEs. We are so much committed to this sector, for which reason we have allocated half of our 2022 budget to support such businesses,” he intimated.
About Best Mobile Banking
As part of efforts to further deepen its digitisation agenda, the company introduced its mobile banking product known as Best Mobile Banking. This product enables customers to undertake basic banking transactions on their phones – including ‘yam phones’. The product allows customers to transfer funds from their Best Point accounts to their mobile money wallets and vice versa. Customers can also transfer funds from their Best Point account to another bank account.
Customers can top-up airtime and buy data bundles on all networks. Customers can pay bills like DStv, GOtv, Startimes, Box Office, ECG and Ghana Water from their Best Point account using Best Mobile Banking. All that’s required is for the customer to open an account with Best Point Savings and Loans and then dial *277#. For existing customers, they can dial the short code to register and enjoy the service.
The product comes with the slogan ‘Wo Phone Nie, Wo Sika Nie’, and was launched in September 2021. Between September and December, about 14,000 customers were signed onto the product – against a projected figure of 4,000.
While offering customers more banking channels, Best Mobile Banking has also contributed greatly to government’s financial inclusion agenda.
