Dr. Dr. Francis Mensah Sasraku
Head - Risk & Regulations
Dr. Dr. Francis M. Sasraku is the Head of Risk & Regulations Faculty of the National Banking College, he directly reports to the director of studies and training.
Dr. Sasraku holds a chartered banking qualification, the ACIB-UK, where he specialised in retail and corporate and institutional banking. He is a fellow of the Association of Certified Chartered Accountants(FCCA), a Chartered Management Accountant(ACMA) and a Chartered Global Management Accountant(CGMA).
Dr. Sasraku is a professional and Associate Marketer with a postgraduate diploma in marketing (Dip M., ACIM-UK) from the Chartered Institute of Marketing UK. He possesses a degree in Economics and an MBA from the Oxford Institute of International Finance (Oxford Brookes University -UK). He has a Ph.D. with a specialisation in Energy Law and Policy and a Master of Laws (L.L.M) in petroleum Law and Policy (Dundee University) where he passed with distinction. He, also, holds a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) degree from the school of Management and Law, the University of Bradford in the UK where he Specialised in Banking Risk and Regulation. He is a Director and serves as the chief Examiner for the Chartered Institute of Bankers’ Corporation Governance Paper in Ghana. He serves and advises on board issues for many financial institutions both in Ghana and abroad.
Dr. Francis M. Sasraku is a new institutional economist and an energy expert. He is also a professional banker with over 25 years of experience in the banking sector. Dr. Sasraku was the Head of the Marketing Division for GCB Ghana Ltd. Before joining GCB Ghana Ltd., he was a management trainee in the Treasury Management at Raiffeissen Gmbn in Germany. He has wide experience in manufacturing and served as a Quality Controller in Fluh Drehtechnik also in Germany. He later joined KPMG as Management Consultant before being employed at the GCB Ghana Ltd. He is also an Adjunct Consultant for KPMG on Bank Risk Management and the Emerging Basel II/III and Corporate Governance Implementation in Ghana. He has applied his experience in Bank Management, Risk Administration and Enforcement, Credit, Treasury, Systems, Project Financing, Marketing, Operations, Corporate Reporting, Auditing. He has in-depth knowledge in some other key sectors, such as manufacturing and energy, capacity-building activities. He also lectures at the post-graduate level and has trained staff of banks, the team of crucial energy firms in Ghana and the West-Africa sub-region.
His publications covers areas in are Energy Risk, Energy Project Financing, and Energy Policy Issues. His recent publication is on how Culture affects management performance and Risk-taking in developing countries.
